Hello and welcome to Magna Carta College. I was Educated at Harvard, Suffolk and Oxford Universities. I studied modern History at Oxford and then converted to Law and was Called to the Bar in Lincolns Inn in 2000. At Magna Carta College I specialise in Corporate Social Responsibility. I am committed to ensuring that education is made available to all.
What is my background? Well, I began my career with a PhD in Chemistry and since then my career has stretched over 40 years. 25 of these were in various management positions within the materials science industry. During that time I covered most management disciplines in a very broad international business. So I have a very broad background, but with a strong focus on project, operations and quality management. I am kept very busy with four grandchildren but still manage to find time for my other interests: golf, cycling and swimming.
Over a career of more than 30 years, I have worked in a number of senior management positions in the pharmaceutical industry, the UK National Health Service, and in several UK Universities. I have 20 years experience in management education with particular specialisms in Strategic Management and Marketing, Operations Management and Systems Thinking.
Hello, I am a tutor for the Economics, Finance and Management Accounting subjects including Strategic Investment Management. My goal is to facilitate your learning on the modules I tutor, and make your experience as enjoyable and fruitful as possible.
My personal interests include most aspects of sports, mostly as a spectator, but I do still hobble onto the squash and tennis courts. I also enjoy listening to a wide variety of music and reading anything about history. In addition, I enjoy sunshine, food and drink, and preferably all together.
Hi and welcome to Magna Carta College.
After leaving Oxford University with MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics I studied for an MSc in political science at Strathclyde University. Thereafter I spent about 12 years at the Henley Management College, one of the UK’s pioneers in distance learning in management education. While there I researched in the area of labour market behaviour, taught economics and some areas of finance and became course director of the full-time MBA. When an opportunity came up to work in the area where I grew up I joined the education and training centre of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy. There my teaching diversified into areas such as strategic management, quality management, financial management, marketing, market research and public finance and policy. However, that is enough about me.
I am looking forward to getting to know you on-line and working with you and hope we all find it a stimulating and worthwhile experience.
